Progress Day 2: Holly

Greetings Blog Hoppers

Here's my progress report for Day 2 of our workout and nutrition regime. I'll go ahead and be real with you right here, right now. I didn't do so hot. Not so great at all. I ate way over my calorie limit and let myself become frustrated and discouraged over it. Fortunately I have the BEST accountability partner EVER to help me stay on track and motivated. :) Thank you Austin! Sometimes even a personal trainer can get down in the dumps! We're all human and we all need to keep pushing forward!
Austin and I went to the gym in the morning and worked our Chest and Abs. I'm super super sore today! I also did 20 minutes of HIIT and a mile walk in the evening (forced on me by the amazing Austin once I told him about my over eating). He's the best!

Breakfast was great... I was STARVING after the workout...
Dried fruit in multigrain oatmeal
Blueberry Nonfat Greek Yogurt
1 Slice of Nutty Grain Bread
and Natural Low Sodium Peanut Butter
For a total of 555 calories. At this point I was already starting my day DOOMED! I needed to SPREAD OUT my meals!

Lunch
Non Fat Raspberry Greek Yogurt
with Apple Blueberry Granola
and Dried Banana chips
For a total of 840 calories. Banana chips and granola are insanely high in calorie... and I had a lot!

Snacks
For snacks throughout the afternoon I had
Vegan Granola Bar- 140
Vita-Top Muffin -100
For a total of 240 calories

Dinner
I made Austin and I whole wheat spaghetti with calorie free pasta sauce
with pieces of whole grain bread to dip in olive oil and spices
and topped our spaghetti with mixed cheeses.
I would estimate my meal was around 500 calories.

That puts my total day calorie count at: 2,135
Thats disgusting.
And I'm never doing that again...
SO MANY CARBS! Ugh!

I will show you what good well rounded nutrition looks like.
But do not consult this day for advice. because I had a downright rotten nutritional day.
I apologize. Here's to a better day, and picking myself up and doing better from this point forward! No more getting down in a slump!

Progress Day 1: Austin

So day one is over and I'm well into day two. Overall day one was a big success. I started the day early with a great back workout with my beautiful fiancée Holly. By the way, we are following the same workout schedule. Afterwards Holly made me a wonderful breakfast.

Four scrambled eggs with pinch of shredded Mexican Blend cheese.
One package of multi-grain oatmeal with dried cherries.
A macadamia nut k-cup coffee

Awesome! Thanks Hon!

I work full-time at a desk job so unfortunately my weekdays are very inactive. For a snack I had a vegan granola bar from Target and lunch was two cups of spaghetti with turkey meat sauce. I wanted plenty of energy for my cardio that evening!

After work I did 30 minutes of cardio and then ran one of my dogs.

My mother made me an excellent dinner. I'll have to take a picture next time! It was delicious. It was salmon made into a patty with an egg cooked in the center on a piece of toast with some sliced tomato. It had the most colorful flavors I've had in a meal in a long time! Yum!

Overall this was a great day but next time I'll be sure to do a more intense cardio workout!

Progress Day 1: Holly

Howdy Folks

:) Just thought I'd give you all a quick update on what I am doing!

Yesterday Austin and I trained our back's at the gym, and we also did cardio. I ran for thirty minutes :) outside in that 100 degree heat... it was very crazy! but at least I got a bit of a tan!
Food intake went fairly well. I ate a 160 more calories than I would have liked, but my goal is not to starve myself, but to give myself power and strength!

Breakfast:
Eggs 183 calories
Strawberry Banana Lowfat Chobani 160 calories
Coffee

Lunch
Ezekiel Sprouted Grain Tortilla 150 calories
Lettuce
Mandarin Crispy Chik'n 450 total (Half of the package on a wrap for lunch, and half as a snack later)

Dinner
Cinnamon Pretzel Sticks 110 Calories
Protein Berry Workout with Soy from Jamba Juice 270 calories

Snack
Steamed Veggies 140 calories

1467 calories total, and TONS of water!
I'll be sure to update you on how today went, tomorrow!

I'm constantly trying to remind myself to not only push myself a little harder every day, but to truly enjoy this journey. It's not about making you HATE you by punishing yourself or anything crazy like that. It's about you teaching you to LOVE you. Love what you put in your body. Love how you treat your body. Treat it right, and have no regrets. Don't beat yourself up over little mistakes. Just get back in the game and treat your body right. Life Change takes time. Anything that is WORTH IT in the end takes time. Instilling a lifestyle that is going to last the rest of your life takes time. It just cant happen over night. So rejoice in your victories, and keep pushing forward.

That's my schpiel.

We're Not Gonna Take It

Whenever a great opportunity presents itself, usually a bazillion things will try to get in the way of you being able to reach great heights.

That's when you kick those things back to where they came from, and set your priorities straight.

So of course throughout the beginning of this journey I have felt like I am getting ill. In reality I just need to get my body working properly again. I need to make sure my nutrition is spot on, and my strength is being BUILT rather than weakened. Let's hope I'm not getting sick.

I will now be posting to the public my "before" photos. Taken today. 59 Days Until Our Wedding.
I have a long way I want to go until I reach my goals but most importantly I hope to achieve greater confidence in my skin. I want to prove to myself that I can change my body to the image of myself that I aspire to be. I want to reach a personal best, and then I want to build on that.

I am really excited about the potential progress I could make in 59 Days. But I'm really going to have to push.
Here's how my calories and workouts have been going so far.
Monday: Workout Completed, 1300 Calories consumed.
Tuesday: Rest Day, TOO MANY CALORIES (unknown) consumed.
Wednesday: Workout Completed, again too many unknown calories consumed.
Thursday: Workout Completed, Probably about 1800 Calories. Which again, is too many.
I made excuses because I was feeling weak and sick. But with a better nutritional conscience and smarter training, I know I can get through these obstacles.

I look forward to sharing with you my diet daily from this point forward. :) I hope from analyzing my diet you will be able to be encouraged and perhaps get some ideas from it.

Peace,
Holly

Emotions and Eating

Sometimes we can get hit with emotions or stresses that make us feel like we've been run over by a transport truck. Not only does it feel totally emotionally defeating, but you can also feel like you physically cannot achieve the things you have set your mind to that day.

I'm writing this blog to tell anybody else out there, and myself... That we can pick ourselves up. We can move forward. And we can persist with our goals.
If you've made a mistake. Start fresh and start NOW. Do not wait. Do not pass go. Do not collect 200 dollars.

You have the opportunity to improve on the person you are every single day. Why waste that opportunity by repeating the same mistakes over and over again?

Needless to say I personally need a fresh start this week. Things will continue as I had planned. But mentally, I have committed to myself on an entirely new level. and it was entirely necessary.

Carry on, Folks. Carry on.
60 Days until Austin and I are married. :)

Holly's Measurements

So I haven't tracked my measurements in a long time! I am very excited to begin this journey of keeping a close eye on how my body changes!
This week I will be training mainly with HIIT. Last week I tried to train with both HIIT and heavy lifting daily, and I wore myself out. TRAIN SAFELY! Know your limits! Sometimes I can be a little too ambitious :P
So I will be doing a modified version of the program Insanity. 4 Days of HIIT, I swapped out one day of the program to do legs and moderate cardio at the gym and another day to do arms and moderate cardio at the gym just to be sure that I keep my strength and tone while I am in this fat burning stage. That makes 6 days of training and 1 day of active rest.
I've broken up my calorie intake as follows: M- 1300, T-1300, W-1600, Th- 1300, F-1300, Sat-1600, Sun- 1300. It also may be important to mention that I follow a vegetarian diet.
Here are my starting measurements:
Neck: 11.25 In
Chest: 29.5 In
Right Bicep: 10.5 In
Left Bicep: 10.5 In
Waist: 27.25 In
Hips 35 In
Right Thigh: 19.5 In
Left Thigh: 19.5 In
Right Calf: 13 In
Left Calf: 13 In
Weight: 110 Lbs
--My primary goals for the next few weeks are to decrease my measurements in my hips, waist and thighs, lowering my bodyfat percentage.
I will check in again soon! I am so excited to be closely monitoring my own personal goals because I am SO proud of the great accomplishments my clients have made! My clients inspire me so much! Keep Pushing Forward!

Overcome an Obstacle... Change for Good

Hey y'all!

Just really wanted to write a quick note about obstacles. Take advantage of them! Use them to grow and to challenge yourself! The more you challenge yourself the more you will see change. It's so worth it when you mentally and physically defeat that obstacle. If you've defeated it once, you've defeated it forever. Don't look back. That problem does not define you anymore.
See your life transformed, and strive to live in the way you envision your transformed life.
I've had several obstacles lately. Some defeated, some not. Some disappointments, some laziness, sometimes pushing myself a bit too hard in my workouts. However I believe it is pointless to relive the same mistake twice because YOU are more intelligent than that. You have more control and discipline than that.
Let's be smart. Train smart. Eat smart.
You have the potential to impact and inspire a lot of people through your wise choices. Let that fuel you.

Be aware of your actions, people.
Be aware of your impact.

Soon to come:
Food journaling, measurements, workout tips, ect.

Enjoying the Journey: The Beginning

Any goal in life that is worth achieving will take time. It all starts when you decide to begin the journey. As a personal trainer, I have to hold myself to the highest standards of fitness and nutrition in order to stay accountable to my clients. The development of self control, and self discipline in the areas of fitness and nutrition is a concept that I harp on all day long. Therefore, it wouldn't make sense if I did not follow the guidelines to which I hold my clients.
My fitness and nutrition journey truly began several years ago when I started working out with various fitness DVD's. However now, my journey is being wed to my wonderful Fiancé's journey.
Austin, my fiancé, and I are posting to this blog together to encourage individuals, couples, and families alike to make fitness and healthy nutrition a priority in their lives. Sometimes, as a "dieting" individual, or a person who has made "rules" or "guidelines" for themselves, we can feel extremely alone and restricted in our freedom of living. However through this blog we hope to help you find freedom in living fit and healthy for the rest of your life regardless of your situation. We all deserve to feel confident about our bodies, and have the knowledge of how to treat them so that we feel healthy and energized.
We hope to help people to realize that the impossible is possible, and all you need to do is commit to change. We are here to help you stay accountable, give you ideas, and push you forward in the next step of your health and fitness journey. Take a step up, and decide what realistic changes you can begin to make as your very first step. Join us,
and enjoy your journey.

What We're Doing:
Austin and I will be getting married in 65 days. So obviously, we are both striving to look as great as we can before the big day. Every day brings new challenges and struggles. New things to be busy with. New obstacles. However, my next step, beginning tomorrow, will be to stay under my calorie limit of 1300 calories 5 days a week, having 2 days where I can go to 1600 calories. Austin and I both will be working out six days a week, and eating as clean as possible!

Let us hold you accountable and
follow our journey towards finding freedom in living a fit and healthy lifestyle!!

-Holly
